पिथौरागढ़ः एक शहर जो अब भी याद आता है

पिथौरागढ़, यानि प्रकृति की गोद में बसा उत्तरांचल (उत्तराखंड) राज्य का एक बेहद रमणीक शहर, वो शहर जो मिनी काश्मीर के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। लगभग १० वर्ग किमी क्षेत्रफल वाली सोर घाटी में बसा ये शहर, चंडाक, ध्वज, थल केदार और कुंदर पहाड़ियों के मध्य घिरा हुआ है। कैमरे में कैद करने लायक प्राकृतिक सुंदरता से भरा होने की वजह से ही शायद इस शहर को छोटा काश्मीर भी कहते हैं।
अगले कुछ लेखों में हम इसी शहर के बारे में बतायेंगे। यही वो शहर है जहाँ मनायी गयी होली हमें रह रहकर याद आती है। इसी शहर से हमने क्रिकेट, फुटबाल और बास्केटबॉल जैसे खेल सीखे। सिलथाम की सड़कों में भुट्टा खाने के बाद बचे उसके डंडे से फुटबाल खेलना अभी भी याद है। याद है डीएवी (शायद ये ही स्कूल का नाम था) के मैदान में बास्केटबॉल और फुटबाल सीखने के लिये जाना, स्टेडियम में बैठकर फुटबाल मैच का लुत्फ उठाना। खेतों से फसल कटने के बाद उस पर अपने विकिट गाड़ क्रिकेट खेलना।
मिशन स्कूल की पहाड़ी के पीछे जल्दी छुट्टी होने पर क्रिकेट खेलना, टांट बिछाकर रामलीला देखना, जेल वाले किले की दीवारों में चढ़ना, चंडाक का मैला, वो खड़िया की खान। गर्मियों में भाटकोट की तरफ घूमने निकल जाना, वड्डा में जाकर आर्मी थियेटर में सिनेमा देखना। नये बाजार की चौड़ी (तब तो ऐसी ही लगती थी) सड़कों में घूमना, पुनेठा पुस्तक भंडार में किताबें खरीदने के लिये लाईन लगाना। यादों का क्या एक बार जो आनी शुरू हो तो आती ही जाती है - “यादें याद आती हैं, बातें याद आती हैं”।
ऐसी ही यादें हो सकता है आप में से किसी के साथ भी जुड़ी हों, कोई ऐसी जगह जिससे ये इंटरनेट अभी तक अनजान हो, वो आपका कोई सुंदर सा गांव जिसके बारे में आपके सिवा कोई और नही जानता। अगर आप के साथ भी इस शहर को लेकर कोई ऐसी याद जुड़ी हो तो हमें लिख भेजिये या टिप्पणी के द्वारा हमें बता दें। जिसे हम अपनी पिथौरागढ़ की इस श्रृंखला में शामिल कर सकें। पिथौरागढ़ की वादियों या इस शहर की तस्वीरें भी अगर आपके पास हैं और वो भी आप हमारे साथ बांट सकें तो ये सोने पर सुहागा वाली बात होगी।

my previous comment on pithoragarh was not completed.
I want to conclude it by saying that:
its not very far that we will find people countrywide sharing the same opinion as mine or Tarun bhai. Only we will have to wait for some more people to speak their mind on it. The relatively inconvenient approach to the town deters tourinst now but once govt rises from its slumber & starts the commersial flights from Naini Saini, u will find my words becoming truth.

Ah.. i think i found someone with similer likings as mine.
I have never seen any place as naturally beautiful as Pithoragarh.
My native place is Thal and i passed all my adoloscence & now youth out of Pithoragarh. Currently staying in Delhi and visited numerous places from Darjiling to Goa. i mean i hv no memory of there to be nostalgic about.
But folks once u visit Pithoragarh, i can assure u, u will also keep similer opinion as i do.
The natural beauty of Pithorgarh is so overwhelming that beauty of other places tend to appear very average. It is when there is very negligible beautification by govt.
The beauty of the Sor Valley (alias Pithoragarh) lies in its very typical lanscape. Its a relatively flat area at an height of more than 2200 mtrs. (nainital alt is 1950m). The terrains are not as steep as is common in all other regions of Himalaya.
U stand any where in the valley, whether its Bhatkot, Naini Saini, Chandak or any place enroute Wadda, u are going to give a perfect treat to your eyes. Perticularly beautiful is the strech between main city to Wadda. Very low mountains on both the sides of roads with only short grass reminding the green landscape of switzerland.
The golf ground near Bharkatiya adds to the beauty.
Indeed its not as developed a tourist destination as Nainital is, but a little bit of Govt patronage & consequent media attention with unleash its potential to be the prime tourist hub of not only Uttarakhand but also India.

pithoragarh state main hi ek jagh hai jo ki hamare gaon main padta hai, that place name is “BASHUKINAG DHAM” all the people knows about this place it’s a very nice hill area and very good place of tourest. from this hills you see the all place far and far. that’s a very very good place.
