“Bande me tha dum - vande mataram”. You must be wondering who is that guy I am talking about and if you are reading this review to find out about him then you will be disappointed because I am not going to tell that. Reason is simple I want you to go and watch this movie in big screen.
After 3 years once again Munna bhai is back with his friend circuit to give us a riot of laugh. This film is 100% entertainment and this professor Munna gets higher marks than MBBS Munna. While watching this film I never wanted this film to end.
If we leave films that were based on life of Gandhi then in the history of Indian film this must be first chance when Gandhi stepped out from his pictures hanging on walls. After “rang de basanti” I feel this movie again has a great concept. And I am sure Hollywood directors will also call this Munna.
Definitely you will miss that ‘Jadu ki jhappi’ but our Munna got his ‘Puppi’ what he deserved best. This film is about finding the Gandhi in all of us but never sounds preachy (Not sure about mene Gandhi ko nahi maara). Rather, it makes you laugh and cry through the whole 3 hours journey and in between it touches various issues like stagnation of the older generation (Film: Dhoop), corruption & evil builders (Film: Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro), bad manners, superstitions…etc.
Technically and production-wise this sequel seems a step higher than the previous film, for such sequel films the main challenge always happens to be script to match up if not go one better than the previous film, and Abhijat Joshi and Rajkumar Hirani deliver with perfection. The film is a prime example of a great script same like Rang De Basanti with perfect handled direction by Hirani.
Cast wise, it looks like munna bhai ia tailor made roll for Sanjay dutt and nothing wrong saying same for Arshad varsi. Multi-layered character of Lucky Singh played by Boman Irani, has both evil and good shades and he delivers that his best. Vidya Balan is definetly an actress to watch for, she is not only pretty but once again after Parineeta she proves that she is good artist too. The music of the film seems okay to me when one listens to the album in isolation, but watching the film the songs exactly flow with the film, pleasant and soulful. Lyrics are great work of Swanand Kirkire and it well mixup with story.
Before putting a full stop let me tell you the song vande matram once again re-visualized by Shantanu & Swanand Team. This came at exact time when nation is debating on same.
Last but not the least Film’s true hero is Rajkumar hirani for giving such a clean and wonderful film to watch for every age group. And other filmmakers should learn that Script is more important than the bag full of higher paid actors and location of New York or London.
my Rating: [rate 4.5]

7Film: Muna Bahi Lage Raho
Commercially and entertainment-wise, this movie is a box office hit in Bollywood. This movie gives a feeling of being a part of it as it carries “Pyar ke side effects’. The movie is clean and worth watching with the family.
In my stay of fifteen years in Bahrain, for the first time, I watched an Indian movie in a Cinema hall becauae being an academician, we have certain limitations to go out to such places.
After watching the movie, I felt that Sanjay Dutt is a great actor. However, serious concerns are raised about the way the father of nation “Mahata Gandhi” has been addressed in this movie as well as his philosophy, preachings and practices. The Director of the movie should had realized that Mahatama Gandhi, his philosphy, and preachings are serious subjects and not a matter of laughing or entertainment. His name should had been addressed with great respect as he is the ancestor of India. Thousands scholars researched on his philosopy and obtained Doctorate degrees. Many places in the movie, Sanjay Dutt addresses him with “Hey Bapu” and not Bapuji. His philosophy has been labeled as ‘GANDHIGIRI’ and compared with ‘Dadagiri’. This is a very cheap way of addressing and communicating the respected Bapuji philosophy. His philosphy is not meant for laughing or entertainment purposes, rather it is a serious intellectual topic. I really felt this aspect of presenting the philosophy of Mahatama Gandhi.
I am wondering how Censored Board of India didn’t pay attention to this aspect of the movie and it only considered that the movie has an entertainment value through which preachings and practices of Gandhiji may be communicated to common people of the Indian society as there is gradually detoriation in society’ values.
There are news that in some parts of India, students have raised voice against this movie because Gandhiji has been addressed cheaply. They want the movie to be banned immediately.
The government should consider retaining certain areas of pertaining to the life, philosphy, and practices of Bapuji, so that people can’t use them the way they want.
