For most of the people learning a dance means moving your body in the tune of bollywood songs. If someone become perfect dancer then first target for her or him will be cinema or television. But how many people can think that dance could be use as a treatment for some people. I don’t know how many but at least I know about one person and she is Dr. Ambika Kameshwar, founder-director of RASA - A dancer, choreographer, classical singer. She had intensive training in bharatnataym, Kuchipudi and creative dance under Kumari S. Meenakshi, Dr. Narendra Sharma and several other reputed exponents of dance.

She brings a smile into the lives of special children

So, what makes her special and unique is that she refused to accept that dance is to only perform on stage. She made dance a tool to help children with physically handicap and metally retarted. She researched for years and met with several specialists expert in thier field and then put all together what she learnt into one form and called it Theatre for holistic development.

14 years ago (1989), she started the voluntary organization RASA (RAmana Sunritya Aalaya) to reach to the children with disabilities, cerebral palsy, down’s syndrome etc. You can read more about her right here.
