This rhyme seems perfect for all time great player Sacinh Tendulkar, who has been playing international cricket for 16 years, has been troubled by ankle, toe, back and elbow injuries - and now this shoulder problem.
I think this is a good time for him too to take retirement, I don’t see much difference between great player Tendulkar and successfull captain Ganguly the way both playing (or played in recent years). If India really want to see world cup final, they have to start preparing as of yesterday. Cricket is a game which can be won by a team who has large number of jack of all trades. Sometimes I don’t know why I feel our selectors pick the players by ‘pick the chit’ method. Wasim Jaffer name’s chit was picked for test drawing and now for one day Gautam Gambhir got lucky. Something somewhere is wrong or is there any missing link which we can’t see.
Let’s back to Sachin for a while, He is master of the game, it will be better for him to pay attention on his fitness. Because ‘come and go’ will not be good for his rest of the career and definetly it will hurt his career average. Anyway let him and his team selector to decide what’s good for him.
Before putting a full stop to this post, one more thing I didn’t see a good reason why after making 90+ run (and help team India to finght in first test) selectors asked Kaif to sit and picked yuvraj who just recovered from his injury (even though he played well in second match). Both are very good players in the field but don’t know why I think Kaif could be better player for test matches than Yuvraj if given more chances.
If team India don’t wake up now, I don’t see them playing in world cup final.
Edit: After my this post, statistics was posted about his missing games in rediff, so Here is add-on: Injury has kept him out of 7 test matches and 69 ODI between August 2001 and September 2005 and now in March 2006 again he is out for 8 weeks that means missing at least 7 ODIs against England and could be 1-2 ODI against West Indies. Matches where Tendulkar was ‘rested’ by the team management have not been considered.
Out of those seven matches, India won three and lost three, one match was drawn and out of those 69 matches, India won 31 and lost 36.? Two were abandoned - Not much difference right?

1I don’t agree with you. Sachin Tendulkar cannot be compared to Saurav Ganguli, neither his cricketing ability nor his records. And it’s a big difference that Sachin is performing well in one day cricket, have a look at his performance in recent tour of Pakistan… while Saurav performed poorly in both forms of cricket.
Though fitness is creating a lot of troubles for him, but I believe that he can return and play big knocks with his unmatched talent again.

2Pratik I never compared them for their ability or for record that’s why I said great player and successful captain (I didn’t use great player in this case for ganguli). I asked for retirement because of his fitness problem, 5 days matches are more troublesome for him. I agree he played well in pakistan in ODI. But when we say recent then we can not only count those 4-5 matches.
Either he should pay more attention on his fitness to continue playing or take the retirement that what I feel. Becuase if he comes and go then nobody could get a permanent position for his spot. Now he seems out of ODIs against england because of shoulder problem. Retirement I am saying because of his fitness problem (which affects his game too).
Team interest is always first. Would you like him to selected for world cup team and then getting out of it after first couple of matches because of injury.
Like any other, me to admire him for his records and his play but when time comes it’s always better to do re-analysis.
